Limestone - The BEST choice for your interior stone floor

The world of natural stone is vast and varied - marble, sandstone, slate, travertine, granite, soapstone, quartzite and Limestone. There's lots of factors to consider but we believe in most cases, there's a clear and easy winner! Limestone!

It's no coincidence that it's our most popular product, and the stone we hold the largest variety of. For the majority of homes looking for a natural stone product, the qualities of Limestone trump many of the other options. If you're looking at it from a design angle, Limestone is also incredibly varied allowing you to choose from a range of colours, textures and natural detailing.

Why do we love Limestone?

Durability - Perfect for living ... even in high traffic areas and busy homes with proper care, Limestone will tolerate a lot of wear and tear. Even better than that, as it ages, it's natural patina is only enhanced, giving it a special character you can't replicate.
-
Unique beauty - Every tile is different, "sisters not twins" ... meaning you get the continuity and the character. Especially stones which are more heavily fossilised like Garrowby or Ampleforth, each stone will contain its own unique fossil detail!
-
Easy to maintain - No need for complicated cleaning routines, simple PH neutral cleaners will to a fantastic job of keeping your floor clean, and regular resealing will ensure it looks fabulous for years to come!
-
Cost effective - It's a common misconception that Limestone is expensive, there are of course cheaper alternatives, and porcelain options, however ultimately the investment in Limestone will pay off, especially in your forever home. Cheaper stones like sandstone are not as durable so more likely to wear and get damaged, much like porcelain which can be easily damaged, hard to replace and doesn't ooze the quality, and opulence of a natural stone like limestone.
-
Versatility - Limestone can be used in a variety of internal spaces, from living space, kitchens, bathrooms, and even fireplaces. It's beauty and practicality will lend itself to many functions and designs! But its versatility doesn't end there ... because it's so durable, many of our limestones are also suitable for external use, meaning you can create stunning internal/external continuity in your design choices.
-
Variety - Whatever design aesthetic you're looking for there's likely a limestone for you! Dark, light, neutral, grey, pattered, simple, textured, tumbled ...  Available in various thickness's, sizes, finishes and designs (such as opus or herringbone) and can easily be enhanced in different ways using various different sealers. You also have options of natural edges or machine cut, which can help you to create a more modern or more traditional finish!
-
Eco-friendly - Unlike synthetic tiles the Limestone manufacturing process is simple and short. Limestone doesn't need large amounts of finishing process in factories keeping the environment pollution free, it's remains a relatively uncomplicated natural product as its natural beauty and texture speaks for itself!
-
UFH compatible - A common question, and a simple answer ... YES! Limestone can be used with all types of underfloor heating.

Grey Limestones

Often when people think of Limestone they think Grey, and we have a range of grey limestones, each offering a unique point of difference.

-
Sledmere - One of our darkest grey stones - this incredibly dense, quality stone with a matt finish is uncomplicated, and clean. With minimal fossil detailing it's incredibly durable, and its natural texture is subtle but will provide grip under foot. The closest to Slate, but with all the practicality wins you get from Limestone!
-
Jorvik - The perfect mix of texture, tone, and natural details. We like to think of this stone as the Goldilocks of Grey Limestone! Another dense grey, hard wearing stone that is also suitable for external use.
-
Knavesmire - This captivating Limestone is our most decorated grey limestone. Quartz veining and unique patterns almost hint to a marble-esque look but with the depth, earthy vibe and stone finish of Limestone.
-
Thorganby - A lightly textured, dream stone. This limestone is the lightest of our greys, almost verging on mushroom. Delicate texture, details and patterns give this stone an air of luxury while maintaining a traditional charm.
